Abstract
This integrative review examines research studies that evaluate students with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) in the school setting and nursing interventions that can help the students in managing their disease. Two integrative reviews and seven surveys were examined to find the answer to the question, In schools, which school nurse interventions positively influence Type 1 Diabetic students to have improved management of their disease? The participants offering input in the studies include parents, students with diabetes, teachers, school administrators and staff, and school nurses. It was found that areas of improvement were needed in education, communication and support. The school nurse is in a unique position to provide advocacy for the students with T1D in each area of concern.
